Warfighters Case Study

It is common for modern soldiers to carry more than 20 pounds of extra batteries to power their electronic devices, from night vision lenses to flashlights and communications headsets. Oftentimes, the weight of the batteries restricts the maximum duration for a mission, e.g. if a soldier can only safely carry enough batteries for 72 hours of operation of his electronics, then that is the maximum allowable time for the mission. This restricts how far troops can move into enemy territory.
